Amount granted:
USD 35,000
Beneficiaries:
1,700 students of 5th and 6th grade of primary education from schools in situations of social vulnerability
Modality:
1: Research projects applied to educational contexts
This project will extend the Sophia Method for the 5th and 6th grades of elementary education. This method is a written language learning program that is already applied in educational institutions in vulnerable contexts, ranging from level Pre-K 4 to 4th grade of elementary school. It is structured based on the development of linguistic, metalinguistic and graphomotor skills; following advances in cognitive psycholinguistics and diversity of national curricula. A team of educational psychologists, neuropsychologists and teachers will design and develop the program and the teachers of selected centers will implement it with the monitoring and follow-up of the design team. This implementation will be evaluated from a pretest-posttest design, where teachers and students belonging to the defined grades will participate.
The amount indicated as granted to each program is the one approved by Fundación ReachingU Board of Directors. The funds that each organization receives may differ due to adjustments made to the programs or variations in the exchange rate.
