The Uruguayan data on school attendance among girls and boys aged 4 and 5 show that the country ranks well compared to the rest of the region, according to the “Report on Inequalities in the Access to Compulsory Education”, prepared by the Compulsory Education Monitoring System of the National Institute of Education Evaluation.
Still, the opportunities for those born in highly vulnerable environments are much lower than those of their peers raised in families with more resources.
